The Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice (OCHCH) recently concluded their 2016 Annual conference and trade show in Columbus, Ohio. For the staff members of Advanced Billing and Consulting Services, the various presentations were informative and helpful. Speakers covered topics ranging from “the future of revenue cycle management” to “OASIS for the Future.”

Dr. Bob Fazzi’s presentation on the “Inevitable” explored the aging of the nation’s population and the demands that this will place on healthcare.  A demographic transition that is sometimes called the silver tsunami or Graying of America, is actually occurring in many developed nations around the world.

Here are a few of his thought-provoking facts and predictions:

  • A 5-year study by the New England Journal of Medicine showed that in 25% of all admissions, the medical care harmed patients.
  • There is a “Quality Crisis” in Health Care and it is not improving.
  • By 2030, 1 in 5 Americans will be 65 years or older.
  • By 2035, the population of people 65 and older will become larger than a number of people 18 and younger.
  • In the near future, Home Health Care will be required because it is the most affordable option.

Advanced Billing and Consulting Services is following these trends and will stay informed on current best practices in Home Healthcare. This knowledge allows us to meet the needs of our customers so that they can prepare and successfully navigate the challenges facing their medical practices.

Big thanks to everyone who stopped by our OCHCH conference booth. Also, congratulations to Linton Sharpnack from Village Home Health and Hospice. He won our ABCS RMS raffle! Mr. Sharpnek went home with a new Kindle e-reader.
