As Ohio-based company that provides account management, EVV and billing solutions for Ohio Waiver Provider agencies, we regularly follow state and federal administrative updates. These range from updates on the development of standardized, state-wide individual service plans to advice for hiring direct support staff (DSPs). One recent update from the state of Ohio focuses on Restrictive Measures Notification (RMN).
What are Restrictive Measure Notifications?
Essentially, this is an important tool for agencies, centers and facilities that provide supports for adults with developmental disabilities. An RMN application records and monitors the number of approved restrictive measures for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Restrictive Measures were created, implemented and utilized in situations that deliver specialized services and supports for people with disabilities. They are used only as a last resort and are seen as a necessary action in order to keep everyone safe in a potentially dangerous situation.
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities reviews information from RMN applications in order to identify trends. This data is also used to develop statewide trainings and recognize obstacles that may limit the supports for individuals with developmental disabilities.
What Details are in the RMN Reports?
The state of Ohio has released a new Restrictive Measures Notification (RMN). There are 11 new RMN reports that are available for Developmental Centers (DCs), Ohio County Boards and Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs).
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities has developed these reports in order to help Waiver Provider Agencies understand RMN data as well as meet state and federal requirements.
The 11 new report topics include:
1. Target Behaviors (annual report).
2. Type Counts (annual report).
3. Parent RMN (annual report).
4. Strategy Durations (annual report).
5. Discontinued Entries (annual report).
6. Individual RMN History Report.
7. Age Report.
8. Discontinued Target Behaviors Report.
9. Expiring RMN Entries Report.
10. Drafts Anomaly Report.
11. Implementers Report.
For questions about the new restrictive measures notification reports, individuals should contact their Regional Liaison. As a reminder, on the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Cross-System Regional Liaison Map; there are a total of six regions. Otherwise, questions can be directed to the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
